For those of you who are experiencing a failure of the driver door to unlock with either the remotes OR the unlock button in the car, I have discovered a fix. Remove the center console and just pull it back away from the dash to expose the Smart Junction Box, the most obvious harness on the drivers side of the center is the one that has the wires for door lock/unlock, locate a pink wire with an orange stripe, this is the "all unlock" command wire, it will send positive power when unlock is pressed, now locate a red wire with an orange stripe, this is the "drivers unlock only" command wire, stripe back the insulation on the pink/orange wire, about 1/2 inch will do, then co to the red/orange and cut it somewhere near the place you just stripped off of the pink/orange, the end leading to the plug connector should be tucked away and not used, the end going down the harness can now be connected to the pink/orange wire securely and taped, put the console back together, that's it. you now will have all doors locking AND unlocking together but the drivers door will now unlock via remote or door button.

Thomas you rock this has been an issue for me since I drained my battery 2 years ago.. I had replaced the door actuator already which did not fix it at a cost of $160 CAN and this fix cost me $0.

Thomas, These are the solutions that I am talking about! This was perfect. We just got a 2006 Mercury Mariner as a student car and the driver remote door lock was aggravating. Everyone else says it was the the door actuator or the Smart Junction Box, but your provided the zero cost solution. Did this and it works!

I saw your post. I was near a Pull your own part place and got the actuator. First I tried the ECU, PCM, KAM resets, those did not work. Then I installed the used door actuator, that did not fix it. Then I removed the center console, and found the pink/orange and red/orange wires they are hard to see the orange strip. Put them together as above, and now the FOB works. Thank you.

Does this only work for the driver door? Just bought a 2014 escape and none of the doors will lock with the remote or lock button. The hatch locks but the that's it. Sounds like the wiring under console only works for the driver door. Do I start with the accentuated?

Please Help. I followed the instructions to a tee. It worked the door would lock and unlock but I took the car for a spin and the radio would not cut off. I parked the car and overnight the drivers side window was down about 3 inches and the battery is dead. Is there any way you could put pictures so I know I got the right wires.

Wish I had read this before assuming my actuator was bad. Replaced the actuator, a major PITA, and then found out that it didn't work. Performed this fix and everything works. Thank you.
