Towed my 06 Ford Escape on a dolly. Engine made noise so I drove it to the dealer. Dealer test drove it also and said I ran the engine backwards and destroyed it. The rear end, transmission, and transfer case appeared to be fine. Dealer replaced engine, then said the computer went bad while test driving it, so he replaced that. Tried to start it, but will only run 30 sec the shut down. Dealer says the code says the hybrid battery is bad. Everything was fine prior to and after towing except engine noise.

Never heard of one being run backwards ur dealer is lying to you

Improper towing could have spun the engine and damaged it if it turned in reverse or at high rpm. I wonder if it is possible that a certain condition in the transmission resulting from improper towing could have turned the engine possibly even in reverse. Is it possible that the transmission was not set to neutral?
