No reverse

I have an 02 ford escape and i dont
have reverse but i do. It has it but it
does not grab unless u give it gas.

after a battery was put on my vehicle back my reverse lights do not come on

on my 2004 Ford Escape xls my battery was put on backward the main power source blow out, but was fixed.So my reverse lights do not come on when putting the car in reverse and power is getting to the back when it was tested.
