why wont my car turn over?

so i was sitting in my car and all off a sudden the radio turned off but
everything else was fine so i turned off my car and tried to turn it on again and
the car wouldnt turn over, figured its the alternator but also worried there
could be an electrical problem cause after awhile the alternator charged the
batter a little bit
