I have a 1993 Ford Explorer the fuel gage and the oil gage are both in the empty position. The oil gage is positioned above the gas gage. Any ideas...?

Now sure about the 93, but the 96 has no serviceable parts on the cluster except the small gears which drive the odometer, which are made out of plastic. Unless you see an obvious electrical problem on the board after making sure the proper resistance readings are being sent to the gauge, I suggest you purchase a new/remanufactured cluster. Make sure the cluster is calibrated or your speedometer will read you're going 80 mph when you're creeping into the driveway.
