how can you tell if you have the tow option

if you have the HD pkg you have it, but if you want to be sure, take the truck to the chav dealer and they can run your VIN or look at you build label (it is the spec label in your glove box or behind the seats), and they will be able to tell you for sure.

cab lights on top of the truck would be a good indicator that the truck has the towing package

Look in the glovebox for the codes.if you have z82 code,you have tow package.i have a 2500hd with tow package and no roof lights so i dont really beleive that would tell you.it wouldent tell you on mine.

cab lights have nothing to do with the tow option.

IF IT HAS A TRAILER PLUG IN ON THE REAR BUMPER IT HAS THE TOW PACKAGE

How about the push button on the end of the shift lever

I believe most if not all the automatic transmission comes with a tow mode push button and not dependent on the tow option.

here is a link.http://www.s10forum.com/rpo/index.php look in your glove box.write down all those codes.enter them in here and it will tell you the options and motor,towing package and anything else on your gm vehicle.look for code z82,that is the tow option.
