oil pressure fluctuating

Asked by GuruF6PS4 May 03, 2020 at 07:13 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4 Dr LS Extended Cab SB HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2003 chevy silverado oil pressure fluctuates between
35 and 37 psi at high speeds around 70 like fluctuates
abnormal. And at 65 the oil pressure holds steady at about
35psi. I changed the oil pressure sending unit, oil pan
gasket, oil cooling line gasket, and oil pick up tube. I just
started using high mileage oil today cus my truck has over
200,000 miles. Any help would be appreciated!

That oil pressure is a bit on the low side. I suspect engine wear. You can try to get more miles out of the engine with heavier oil. 2 psi variance is not something to worry about.

and the oil pressure guage doesn't go up once I start going over 65 it just bounces more or less could the gauge be messed up?
