Silverado won't started after running out of gas.

2001 Silverado 2500 hd 6.0 litre. Ran out of
gas, gauge, whole dash doesn't work. Filled
tank wirh 11 gallons of gas. Fired up, rolled
two miles, idled smoorhly at gas station, filled
tank. Drove half mile died. Now will start and
runs for five seconds shakes and dies,
installed new fuel filter, and new air filter.
Fuses and relays good. What now, I'm
stumped.

Most likely the fuel pump is burned out. The fuel flowing through the pump cools and lubricates the pump motor. When it runs dry the fuel pump can burn out very quickly. Hope that helps! Jim
