Question type: Maintenance & Repair

recently had to replace transfercase in my 06
chevy silverado. Bought a rebiuld grom
transfercasekings, 246 series.
After replacement, encoder motor seemed to fail,
so replaced that ( Not cheap). Now it does
everything except lock in to 4Hi. Press the 4Hi
button, it blinks a few times and goes straight to
4auto. Replaced the dash switch and still does the
same thing. Flashed the tccm, (unhooked battery
terminals from battery and held together for
30secs.) no changes.

I actually had my soon to be son-in-law do the work. He is a GM tech for a local dealership. We just didn't do it at the dealership. It goes into 2Hi, 4lo and 4auto just fine. It just won't lock in to 4Hi. If he could get the Tech2 scanner from his shop he could read out what is doing through the tccm. With that being said, I'm thunking it maybe a bad transfercase.

Actually we did have it up on a lift and went through a running motion with it. The 3 positions all worked properly as far as we could tell. Its the 4Hi position that wont lock in. We could hear the encoder working as well during shift changes.

Did not actually check for matching speeds from front to back. Wil have to get a infared sensor to do that.
