The 5.3 litre is rated to tow 7000 lbs. If your pulling around the mountains alot you should look into a Electronic Brake Booster and a sled deck with brakes. But if your pullin less than 2000 lbs you'll do fine in stock form. Stay out of overdrive or use the tow/haul mode on an AT. That will keep tranny temps down and it'll live longer.

ok I actually read your question...the sled deck weight plus the weight of 2 sleds with the door sticker for load capacity...I think you will actually be around capacity if not over...go with the 3/4 ton....that way you'll also be able to handle the 200 extra pounds of gear....hope this helps....the sled decks are really trick...

Are you kidding me, I haul my two sleds with a topper on the trailer and one sled in the back of the bed doing 80 on the highway...no problem. Once you hook up a 4 place and one in the bed well then you might want to start lookin at the 3/4 ton. THINK SNOW

a 04 half ton with the 5.3 will easily be able to handle a sled deck and two sleds... well the motor will no problem the pickup will squat down a little bit but it will be fine... i realize that your not pullin a trailer but i pull a 22 foot flatbed with 5 fourwheelers on it and one in the back of my 04 half ton... it does just fine just put the tow haul on and let her rip (if you do it a lot you might want to put some heavier springs on the back) hope this helps

legally ur probly over the limit but the truck will take it. i carry 2 tons of wood at a time in my half ton. but u might not want to do any crazy turns or off roading.
