Sounds like forcing

when I'm driving at a speed of 80 miles per hour not sure
what my RPMs are supposed to be but they run the
probably a lot of 3 between 3 and 4 and then it kicks in gear
and then it go down is that normal

If you are on the throttle and then it kicks down, that is normal, as it is going into overdrive at that point and then down around 2K rpm.

At 80 my F150 is turning about 2,300 rpm more or less. I don't think your transmission is in top gear or it is slipping.
