As you know, it takes more than just springs to safely haul heavier loads. You could try the springs if they fit. Nobody is going to recommend it because if something goes wrong, they end up in court.

When I was setting up my Jeep Cherokee for towing a camper, I installed air shocks in the rear and had a Schrader valve under the rear bumper to adjust the ride height. Simple and effective.

I had a 1990 c1500 with Full size 2500 express van springs under it. All it needed was a set of 20" slicks and it would have looked like a hot wheels car lol.

You wouldn't have air bags with air shocks. The springs carry the load and the shocks help a little when needed. They look like regular shocks with a 1/8" air line sticking out the side.
