Oil pressure 5.3L Silverado

Asked by Noah Nov 30, 2019 at 08:24 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Oil pressure went from 40psi at warm idle to
20psi suddenly. The lifters were making noise
at cold start. I got a oil change and switched
to 10w30 and it fixed the pressure and lifters
now after the road trip it went back to 20psi at
warm and no lifter noise. I’m replacing the oil
pressure sending unit when the part comes in.
I’m a little concerned, could this be a bigger
issue but than the sending unit?

20 psi is not bad at idle it would go between that and 66 psi. it could have sludge in the intake area of the pump.
