Black smoke

Asked by Wesley Oct 09, 2018 at 02:38 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck is blowing black smoke when I
accelerate. It sputters a little while getting up to
speed. It also won't shift out of the passing gear if I
go full throttle but stays at or around 4000 rpms.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly
appreciated

Running too rich. Probably a leaking fuel injector.
