Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 chevy silverado 5.3 driving on hwy truck
just died like I turned it off.. pulled over
checked around. It would just crank but
wouldn't start. Towed home when tow truck
left I tried turning it on. Turned on great but 15
minutes later as I left it idiljng it died again.
Crank no start I notice my fuel gauge was
pointing down. I figured fuel pump since I seen
fuel gauge and had problem before with fuel
pump connector came off inside and I fixed it
about 4 months ago. Now I replaced fuel
pump
turned on for about 15 minutes and died again
.next day turned on but again died.. help

If it cranks good but won't start, make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Check for applicable trouble codes. Those are the basic checks in my opinion.

I would have to agree with oilyspill, but the fact that it starts then dies 15 minutes later leads me to suspect a fuel pressure drop. Possibly dirty filter. Run test first to confirm
