The costs to replace an engine.

My son is interested in buying a 1999 or 2000 model Chevy Silverado extended cab from his girlfriends dad for $600 but was told the engine needs to be replaced and AC doesn't work. Can someone advise me on how much it would cost to replace the engine? Thanks

Depends on if a shop is going to replace the engine or you are going to do it yourself. Used engine? Rebuilt engine? Check locally at some repair shops for a ballpark figure.
