I hve a 1997 chevy 1500. After I put in a new starter the truck can only be started by gounding out (hot wire) when I try to start the truck with the key nothing happens. After I start the truck , no brake lights, heater controls or indicator lights on the PRN123..pUT SCANNER ON IT IT SAYS NO LINK TO COMPUTER. sUGGESTIONS?

I know what I would do- take it to a good mechanic- it is hard for me to diagnose problems when the owner has already been working on a truck and replacing things- I would get it running, then trade it for a nice old truck with a carb and no computer- if you want to work on trucks yourself- those are a lot easier
