What is wrong with my pickup?

Asked by 95ChevyHelp Mar 04, 2020 at 12:11 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my truck wants to cut out right after startup
and when I push on the brakes and tried to come
to a complete stop the truck acts like it's still
wants to pull forward. Also it's burning quite a bit
of fuel more so than normal. I've changed the fuel
filter spark plugs and wires and can't seem to
figure it out.

Just a guess here, but, it truly sounds like the old "stuck choke" syndrome that we used to run into on old carburetor-type engines. So, whatever "helps" your vehicle start when it's cold, whatever fuel delivery system you have, I would check into that item that helps enable your truck to start first thing in the morning (cold start situation). That would also cause your truck to use more fuel and also cause your truck to always "pull forward hard" when you brake to a complete stop. Just a guess though.
