If you have the motor keep it for something else. it would be pretty silly to hook that much power to fwd. If you dont have the motor... save the money and put it towards the engine you have. those things are built like a shit house and you can get plenty of power without having to swap the engine.

You can always buy a 04 or newer l32 top swap. If you have an L36 you'll be good since the L36 compression is the highest of all the 3800L. You might want to think about some headers, a downpipe with u-bend delete, a 2.5 cat back system, a 4" CAI, and a heavy duty tranny with a good shift kit. You can try Ed Morad, an Ohio based salvage yard which sells the kits. That's where I got mine. For a 05 L32 top swap kit, including the fuel rails and injectors/injector wiring, and the gasket needed I paid around $1200.

not a good idea with FWD. you will need to redo that entire front end if you do the swap. do you have any idea how much the tranny, engine, and front end is going to cost?!?! not worth it

I'd get a v-8 MC but their performance isn't the greatest and, for the same money, I could get a mustang with a better performance package. Besides, the gen 7 MC's aren't as nice looking as the gen 6.

LS7 is not meant for FWD. To fit an LS7 you would either have to convert the car to RWD or maufactuer a transmission for it Both options are going to be an exorbitan tamount of money. The only LS motor that could be put in is the LS4.

The 06 Monte Carlo SS come with a 5.3 engine however to do a swap you'd have to change the ecm maybe the trans too (not sure if the 3.8 trans will adapt or not)

Put the front wheel drive LS4 and get the engine mount conversion right and you'll be good brother look at the videos of the grey 2002 Monte Carlo SS on YouTube it has the ls4

Or better yet just dump the 3.8 for the bast V6 ever made which is the Chevy 4.3. That was a 350 V8 minus 2 Cylinders. Those engines make wwaayy more power than the 3.8 ever could. I know because I own one. 1996 S10 SS making about 265 Horsepower, and 35 MPG on the Highway. All that and more with some nice N/A upgrades. And that's without touching the internals. It could easlily make 500 plus without too much effort. Sorry fellas but the 3.8 is just not my cup of tea when bigger is clearly better. Theres no replacement for displacement.

Never even thought about replacing a newer gm v-6 with a 4.3. If that's a viable option then I would have to agree with Estevan. Im normally a v-8 guy butI had a couple of trucks that I got and put v-8s in but drove them a bit with the 4.3s and the yh had a surprising amount of power. Also had a Firebird I bought for parts for a Formula and a Trans Am but it ran and had a 4.3 with a 5 speed manual. Ended up keeping it for fun. They all came with Quadrajets too. Thanks for the idea bro, gonna look into it a little more.
