Would the brake light stay on (indicating a problem) if a caliper was bad?? My left front wheel does not turn in neutral by hand. I pushed in the piston and it turned freely then applied the brakes and it didn't turn. 2006 aveo

The caliper is starting to stick you should rebuild it or buy a rebuilt. Rebuilding it yourself is cheaper but not always the best solution because by the time you rebuild it and the parts you need plus the frustration it's not worth the money you saved. The brake light will come on only if the the emergency brake is on or a fault in the system. Antilock brakes are a PIA, fix the caliper drive the car, the light might clear itself in a week or so
