How do you repair a linkage connection in a 2003 Chevy astro?

Oops. Sorry. Linkage from the shifter to the transmission. Something broke in the column while I was trying to shift from park. the shifter moves freely now, but it doesn't actually shift. However, it can be shifted into drive by crawling underneath and shifting it manually while someone is inside the cabin depressing the brake.
