Subaru Crosstrek; loud injectors inside cabin

Asked by GuruSRNXR Jun 12, 2019 at 10:08 PM about the 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV Limited with Technology Option AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My subaru currently has 32,000 miles on it. I
bought it last year with approximately 16,000
miles. Over the months I have noticed a ticking
sound coming from the engine compartment.
Oddly enough, it is NOT audible outside the car. It
presents itself as a sewing machine like noise; a
high frequency tick under 3,000RPM until engine
noise drowns it out. It is a rhythmic tick that is
most audible with all the windows up, and ticks in
speed with RPM and acceleration. Is it just a
dampening issue in the cabin or do i need a new
valve\injector system?

1 Answer

Some people are more sensitive to noises than other people. Have a mechanic listen to it in case this is excessive valve clearance.
