What is the Residual Value?

There is no inherent residual value to a car. Residual is set by your leasing company according to your lease agreement. The highest residuals are on leases with the lowest periodic payments. If you put more down, the residual becomes less. So just pick a lease program that appeals to you and assess the residual according to what the value of the car should be at the time the lease expires..... I've been successful doing this and found that the residual is usually a lot less than the car would sell for at lease end. I pay off the residual and sell the car on my own, making money doing this.
