Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a 2023 Chevy Silverado Custom and this pass
weekend my truck started bucking when I accelerate
to pass a car. Can anybody tell what the issue is? I
took it to a Chevrolet dealership and they returned it
back to me on Tuesday. When I hit the highway
Wednesday evening the same thing happened again. I
need help, please.

Take it back, it no doubt is still under warranty, the problem with dealers is if it doesn’t show up right away or leave any codes they don’t want to mess with it. Stand your ground, you know something is wrong and you want it fixed.

Keep taking it back and document this! Check The Lemon Law for your State just in case. It sounds like a problem with the automatic transmission. But since this is a brand new vehicle, don't let anyone but the Chevrolet Dealer touch it. Be sure to get a free loaner vehicle too! To put this in perspective my Niece had a transmission problem with her Malibu. The car was less than a year old and had less than 10,000 miles on it! The Chevrolet Dealer had the car for three months before she got it back! Unavailability of parts, and blah, blah, blah. It wasn't until after the second month that they gave her a free loaner car, which she was entitled to, under the terms and conditions of the new car warranty because I went there with her and made a fuss! She was well within her rights to file a Lemon Law claim but she didn't. She likes the car and so on. She still has it and it continues to be problematic! BTW this was prepandemic so I never believed the unavailability of parts excuses. I just think they didn't know what was wrong with it! Hope that helps! Jim

There are a lot of defects that can cause an engine to buck like yours. You need a mechanic to find out why. As this is a NEW TRUCK, you can't do anything yourself as it's covered by a manufacturer's warranty. You'll have to keep going back to a dealership until it's fixed. Good news is that if not rectified within three trips, you can claim Lemon Law if this exists in your state, and if not, you can report this to the Bureau Of Automotive Repair in the Attorney General's office. That usually gets a dealer's attention.

I want to thank everyone for your answers. I will definitely be using everyones advice. I won't let this issue rest until I get my truck fixed. I really do like my truck and wants to keep it for a long time. However I maybe moving on from GM products after being a long time customer.
