Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi! Hopefully I can solve this problem without spending a
lot, wondering if anyone would have any answers. I have a
2007 Camry. I sometimes have a problem when it's hot
outside, I turn on my a/c and sometimes it would start
flashing & no cold air would come out Sometimes it would
work. Sometimes, it starts flashing again. I recently
changed my alternator. Belt seems to look like it's running
okay. Please help! The summer heat is coming soon.
Would like to fix it as soon as possible.

If you're looking for a GUESS, I'd say that it's the A/C compressor relay. That's only if you're in the kind of mood to throw a (relatively) cheap part at it. If you want to go further, you'll need to know what the high and low side pressures are doing when the compressor is engaging, or doing some further electrical diagnosis to see why it's not engaging. I'd still replace the relay first though, if it was me. Also, it might behoove you to have the system evacuated and recharged, just for good measure, especially if it's been a while, or if it's never been done. Low refrigerant in the system can cause all sorts of strange behavior.

IMO....you need special equipment to diagnose AC issues. Without a AC Guage Set connected to the AC system....you can only guess what may be the root cause of this issue. Suggest you have a Pro with the proper equipment attempt a diagnosis.
