Car makes a roaring noise between 40mph and 60mph

The car makes a roaring noise between 40mph and 60mph but otherwise runs great.  What could it be?

Check to see how the tires are wearing run your hand over the tire tread if tires are choppy needs an alignment or the hub / wheel bearings are bad.
