Compared to the V-6 of I-4 engine it is big. But cubic inch compared to the Big Blocks, it is just a baby. Small block. Chevy has had the 283, 305, 327, 350, and 383. All small blocks. Start with the 400- 409 on up and they are big blocks. I have built my 69 350 ci up to having more HP that the big blocks for yesteryear. The small block has a faster rev rate, and for the most part stay together a bit better.

There was a 400 small block. After market SBC engine can go up to 600 cubic inches!
