The car starts immediately without any problem, BUT shuts down just as quickly. Cause?

Asked by Gunser Apr 18, 2014 at 12:57 AM about the 1985 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had a nice 400 mi. weekend, ran like it just came off the showroom floor.  Got home and
the car did not start and hour later.  The engine starts fine, but shuts down immediately.
Replaced to fuel pump, sending unit, and sensor on firewall.  Changed gas and replace in-
line fuel filter

Is that the TPI engine? If so possible the throttle position sensor going bad, idle air control valve dirty, faulty dirty throttle plate or vacuum leak. Will it stay running if you give it some gas? If so check idle air control valve first.
