i have an 82 corvette and there is a considerable gap between the two tops. I bought the car used, the interior parts look original could I havee the wrong glass or improper weatherstripping

I have an 82 corvette I bought two years ago and have been working on it and getting it
ready for paint but I have a considerable gap in between the tops, the weatherstripping is
not original but I checked ecklers and it doesnt look like it will close the gap. Could I have
the incorrect glass on the original frame?

If I remember corectly they all have a good sized gap between the tops. You could get a single piece top to get rid of the gap but I dont think it can be stored inside the car.

Yes there is a gap about 1/2 " on all two piece tops. This is so when you remove it, you lift up fro the door side to the middle and it swings up. If it was flush it would rub. Remember the body of cars twist so gaps are left to allow for it. It may be hard to see the gap on the attached picture of my 69 Vette, but that gap shown is normal.
