Chevette from the 1970s or 1980s

I have a Gazelle kit car of a 1929 Mercedes SSK replica (kit car) in perfect
condition that was built in 1988  I am told it have an "orange" colored engine
underneath.  Can anyone tell me what year the engine is from (so I can get
parts and repairs), and what size of engine it is?
