Does a salvage title prohibit you from buying a car? No it doesn't. But for anyone but car mechanics, it should.

No a salvage titled vehicle can be purchased, but why you would want to is beyond me. A totaled vehicle should stripped of usable parts then shredded and melted down.

No, but it must be inspected by your State agency to be able to get registered for driving on the road. Then, once the vehicle is deemed roadwothy again, the title status changes to rebuilt. Hope that helps. Jim

Not in my state, if it says salvage then it stays salvage.

First of all don't listen to some insurance Co. jack off . I think some vehicles that are deemed " totaled " End up being under a salvage . While the cost to repair some cosmetic damage may exceed the cars worth it may still be safely driven , In some circumstances . I may not be the expert in that area but I do know B.S when I see/hear it .

If it's an older model it won't take much to total it. Hail damage or a minor fender bender, for example. A vehicle in that category might be worth a look. But, apparently, where you live can determine how much of a hassle it is to get it back on the road. Jim
