1970 Corvette with side exhaust

Asked by Guru9LQ4RS Sep 03, 2021 at 08:45 PM about the 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Question type: General

Looking at a 1970 corvette, convertible. 350 ci, 300 hp, auto, has corvette
side exhaust and covers (all GM).  Owner says the original exhaust system
was removed and replaced by the Dealer with original GM parts i.e., side
exhaust were a dealer option?  Also, has rear body panels (painted same as
car) covering the holes where the original exhaust pipes were located.
Looks GM original.  Can you confirm if side pipes were a dealer option?

Side pipes were an option from factory. But that was for the 69 only! Later models people installed them but they could get them from GM.

Unless you have the original dealer documentation all you have is a car that was modified to a not stock condition. Original cars are more valuable. Modified cars are a dime a dozen so to speak.

Visit gm media archives website. They have a wealth of information on vintage GM vehicles. Sales brochures, accessory booklets, and advertisements. All of which can be viewed for free. Hope that helps! Jim
