gas octane consumption

Question type: General

I need to know if we can use regular gas in this model. I have heard different statements in regards to this question. Beleive it or not, I talked to 2 people in Lexus Canada. One said you can use regular gas, the other said the engine is designed for premium gas. Go Figure. I met a guy at a gas station, I asked him this question because he had a same SUV same year. His answer was that he has only used regular gas for the past 4 years and had no problems. Can any one please give me a convincing answer? How many kilometers should I expect from a liter of gas.

Read your owners manual! It tells you, that is a from the factory with out a question correct answer. I would say no because the V6 that is in the RX330 is also used in the Toyota Camry, Lexus ES300, Toyota Sienna, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Solara. So I would say no you don't have to.

This is relatively simple to address. On the fuel guage, does it read "PREMIUM FUEL RECOMMENDED?" If that statement is ON THE GUAGE, it's needed and required. Cars with higher compression are tuned for 93 Octane fuel to perform correctly; therefore, it's written on the guage as a reminder. In the absence of that statement on the guage, you can use normal fuel of 87 or 89 Octane. Fuel economey is contingent upon numerous factors. The servicability of both air and fuel filters, tire pressure and most of all, your driving habits. Published EPA averages are best case situations, expect to get either a bit less or about whats posted.

Sean..I see you're still "guessing." Well, at least you referred him to the owners manual; that's a start! More work for the guy with the question though! He just needed to look at his fuel guage for the answer.

It does sound like a guess and sorry for my ignorance. Where is the fuel gauge? Do you mean the fuel tank cover where we put the gas in. If that is the thing then mine says nothing about the gas. It only says close on single click or the warning lamp will come on."what ever it means"

Logan is incorrect. If it states that it is "Recommended" then it is just that, recommended. It will say "Required" if it is required.

Also, there are many states where 93 octane gas is simply not available, as 91 or even 89 is the top (in high altitudes).

I know this is late, it seriously? You asked where is a fuel gauge? I’m pretty sure it should be in front of your steering wheel in a little lease covered circle or something of the sort.. cmon...I hope that was a joke...sheesh!
