the motor couldn't possibly be 'still okay' with a wash of gasoline. Do a compression test to see if your goose is cooked.
check your vacuum line at fuel pressure mod. diafram may have split and giving a hardy gulp of fuel washing thru ring gaps, you will have a clean engine once corrected
