Hello, The standard engine for the 1989 RS and IROC was the 5.0L 170 horsepower V8. There was no optional engine. Best of luck! CarGrrl

I am Pretty-Sure it did come with the 305 TPI. I do know in earlier years, you could get any Z28 motor from the LG4 to the L98. I have seen Cheaper IROC's thatcame with the LG4, the 15inch standard Z28 rims, instead of the 16" Alloys, and without four wheel disk brakes. I personally think that if you were gonna buy an IROC Z back then, It should of came with the Best of everything. Those cars were up in the $18,000 range. That was alot of money then...

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the automatic come with the 350 and the manual come with a 305. Or was it just specific to the manual tranny.
