Replacing fuel relay, found something wierd and no one seems to know what it is.

Know my problem is either the fuel accumulator or the fuel relay. Here is the weird thing I found a 4"x3"x10" aluminum box under my rear seat while cleaning and couldn't find out what it was, she kept running so I left it alone. Now from looking behind the access panel of relay, in the relays place is a plug attached to a 1/2 " Dia. cable which looks like it goes to the aluminum box, any ideas as to what this is? THANKS!

1988 MBZ 560sel, just replaced idle control valve, now it won't hold idle, continues to have difficulty starting (usually 4 tries), replaced dead battery (wouldn't hold a charge), am now considering fuel pump relay replacement. BTW, ABS light is on, and the SRS light pops on briefly when I enter the car. Also, the radio was coming on when you turn off the car. Could something as simple as the overload relay cause these widespread problems? 4 Answers

I have a c280 1999 changed the battery, fuel pump, relay and fuses still no start. Will turn over but no start, i drove to my daughter's school and the car stopped curb side. Kind of embarassing. 1 Answer
