You didn't buy the car from CarGurus, you bought the car from the seller. THAT is who you need to be upset with. Being upset with CarGurus is like being upset at the newspaper because you bought something that broke. Makes no sense. By the way, there are plenty of junkyard engines that are in great condition and work perfectly. Just because a car is in a junkyard does not mean all of the parts are unusable. I'd get a second opinion from another mechanic before shelling out big money.
