On this issue, need to know and check for spark to start. Then I would check the fuel pressure, the gas in the tank keeps the fuel pump cool, so running it low on gas may have affected the fuel pump. Your heat problem, sounds like low coolant, or there is problem with the heater valve in the heater hose.

another problem with a gas tank full of air is air has moisture in it that condenses into the gas , and I've heard dry gas doesn't really do the trick you have to get a better product .

Running low on gas....I wonder how many millions of dollars this costs owners each year?
