97 Chrysler Sebring accelerator won't move.

My battery died so I replaced it. The
new battery had terminals on the
other side. The ground that comes
off the negative terminal wouldn't
reach the original location so I moved
the ground to the firewall. Car starts
and runs fine but now you cannot
push down on the gas pedal. It will
not move under any amount of force.
I can still rev it manually,but the pedal
will not move.

I'm sure I screwed it up by moving
the ground but now I don't know
what to do to fix it. Any suggestions
would be appreciated

humm..other side or left to right... connect the battery gound from the battery to the engine...
