Why am I being asked for my email?

I'm selling my car online and I've been getting multiple people texting me to
email them. As in "Is your car still available? Email me at _____" or "Email me
a picture of the engine" I texted a photo of the engine, but I was told they
can't see it. Something smells funny about this. Anyone know why they want
my email?

    When initially trying to create a listing, the cargurus system tells me my email has been hacked. But, the notifications are still going to that email. So I am using an alternate email.
