i have a broken side mirror on a 96 ford f150, i found a replacement mirror, but doesn't have the chrome on it and wondering if there is a way to safely remove only the glass

I don't know about removing the mirror, but I broke my glass once and I made a template out of cardboard and took it to a glass company and for about 15 bucks they cut me a new one. then I took silicone and glued it on using some blue masking tape to hold it for about 3 hours. worked great.
