i have a 1996 chevy silverado ext. cab with a 305 vortec engine .it has 277000 miles . What are some possible causes my # 5 cyl.wont fire.i've put new plugs, wires, dist. and rotor button. HELP!

It sounds like you may have ruled out an ignition problem. It may be a fuel delivery issue. I just went through this on my 99 Blazer. #6 Cylinder was consistently misfiring and also had random misfire codes. I replaced the fuel spider and the truck runs great. No codes.
