its not really in anything right now... just sitting in a shop... its tough to use really because it generates about 1600hp if its tuned to be reliable we end up hurting the engine with lower boost because we end up with incomplete detonation... were gonna do a full head swap and raise the compression and dial back the boost... my plans are to drop her into either a 67-69 GT500 or throw it into a newer GT500 major clearance issues right now though... im not really doing anything with it for now... the hood its in in the pic is just a reinforced test race chassis loosley based on a older Challenger RT... the engine is capable of 2000hp as the engine sits right now without pushing it... although youd be suprised how fast 50 litres of race gas can dissapear... some people say i should put it into a track car but that takes away the point... really if i was smart id sell it for a couple 1000hp engines and deploy them in street cars... this engine really isnt practical for anything... and dont worry the only other engine i have right now is a 4.6lSOHC 1996 mustang GT engine... im getting 260rwhp out of it with just a intake manifold, heads, stage 2 comp cam that i got out of a buddy who totaled his car about 400ft from the shop we did the work at lol... so they wernt even worn in when we got them out... 42lb injectors, a superchip with proper tuning and a oldschool magnaflow setup which still have cats... also the fuel system was updated from the same totaled mustang with ford GT pumps... its a nice little daily driver and im planning on a cobra build or drop a cobra drivetrain and suspension setup on my stang for the spring... 250whp out of 1.6 isnt bad... but its a real thrill to drop the hammer on 2000hp there aernt tires in the world that can stop it spinning ... at 100 clicks in 4th (the biggest tranny ive ever seen....) revs at 1950 the tires turn into smoke real easy... cheers...

Actually it's a Kia Rio, just running Mazda internals in an engine that Kia base off the B6t. Head stud, main bolts and rod bolts are ARP, forged 8.9:1 B6-ZE pistons, large snout B6 crank, BPT rods, RFL BOV and staged injection with a total of 55# per cylinder. And yeah the wire tuck was excessivly difficult, but it looks nice in the end.

My buddy is running a B6t in his Rio. We swtich the stock IHI for an RHF5 from a Subaru Legacy. It builds nice low end boost and still has some good go in the top end. I was always a Garret fan, him and IHI fan, he is also running a Masserati Bi-Turbo which stock uses twin RHB5's.

*Looks at pictures Different fuel rails, different tubing, different manifolds, different valve covers, may just be the perspective but appears to have different deck heights, even appears to be different turbos...(Appears to be two different engines? Hard to tell at these angles) Since the fit vehicle isn't what this engine was intended for, none of those discrepancies makes sense to me? Am I missing something? 1) Engine built without an intended purpose (For fun)... ? 2) Placed in test vehicle (just for fitment) re-plumb the turbo and fueling systems for fitment vehicle (For Fun) 3) Plate and polish pieces for the fit vehicle (For bling) 4) Take out and rebuild because 'incomplete detonation'... So tons of waste on a for fun engine, but then salvage parts for his daily driver? If this is legit it's gotta be the screwiest thing I've heard yet... (Granted this is the same guy who claimed he can post faster lap times than a pro-driver on a course he's never driven...) Maybe I'm reading too much into it... His friends list suggests he's only 19 or 20 yo, so maybe he's just dumb and doesn't know how to spend the money daddy gave him...

yea the legacy turbo is common ...the vj14 that comes stock is way too small for any real top end power but it does come online like a supercharger down low...i chose to go mitsubishi for the sipmle fact that there plentiful and cheap but garrett does make nice snails ... i have manifolds and turbos from ihi and mitsu so i can swap if i want ... got it down to a science i put my fan on the front of the radiator (pusher) so i just swap the whole assembly mani, snail and all ...can do it in about an hour ...we built a b6t festiva also but sold it last spring...ill post a pic ...this car is such a toy really... you would think being a gay little chicks car people would laugh... but i get some major props... and its a pussy magnet (my wife hates it )i like it becuase mustangs, and old men in old vettes, and porsche boxters underestimate it badly...a good friend of mine has a speed 6... and i gave him a good run... so he started modding it... well see this year with the mitsu snail..HEHE... its other highpoint is weight it weighs about 2200 lbs with my little ass in it..( ive stripped all sorts of shit out to go from 2375 dry to 2200 with me in it ,including the rrear seats, both bumpers, and the airbags and sensors) all in the name of speed...the festy came in at a whopping 1800 lbs with driver ...but got zero traction ...it ran a 12.5 at best spinnin like hell...you couldnt get a good launch....

315

Haaa your right i didnt even look that close.... im not a big muscle guy...i like power to weight........ but now i look at it the motors are totally different haaaa.....and there turbos not centrifugal chargers haaaa....and ive never heard of incomplete detnation ....detonation is engine ping, or knock, or preignition, when heat and pressure cause an engine to ignite the mix before the plug fires ....no shit, yall are right hes a bullshitter......LOL

315

dont worry this is a different capri xr2 not mine but it was a 91 red one

685

Heres where I went from, my GT2554R up to a GT2860R next step I think will be a GT3076R

And last one here is the engine bay before the most recent wire tuck/manifold etc.

315

is that one on the left a full frame t-4 or a t3-t4 hbd....

685

The only differance I have found is the B6t block has a oil tapping in the block and also a coolant tapping in the block. The spots are on the block for it just the tappings are not there.

315

looks clean but im not a big fan of all the plastic...LOL...like the pipes thats cool

685

Actually the smaller one is a straight GT25 frame. The larger is a T3 compressor T25 hybrid. the smaller turbo had me 8 psi between 1900-2300 depending on the gear. With the larger one I have 10psi just over 2500rpm but it flow almost 30% more.

315

no shit ...hey i got 3 sets of b6t cams, and an extra head for a b6t . needs cleaned up but in good shape ....also have intake manis and a spare polished valvecover ...dunno if you or your buddy needs anything .....

685

Yeah that's why I changed everything. I think the valve cover is going to be painted blue and I'll trim the letter on it in chrome or sliver and leave the engine cover off. Most people at shows couldn't see the turbo until they took a second glance at it. The new intercooler pipe is staying polished aluminum, again with blue couplings.

315

yea im looking at about 405 cfm at 15 psi on the mitsu compared to about 280 @16psi on the vj11....my vj spooled full boost at 1500 rpm so im gonna miss the supercharger feel but at 405cfm she should cook at 15psi on the mitsu...

685

He's more of a go then show guy.. It's pretty ratty looking in his engine bay. And the B6t cams are the same as the Kia ones, but we both have 375 lift regrinds that we use instead with slighty long duration. Though if you have a hook up for a B6T cable clutch 5 spd. I would be very interested. These dinky 200mm clutchs don't hold the power that the 225mm's can.

315

ive got a tranny (g series mazda from a capri )and two flywheels ..actually....

685

the G series that uses a cable clutch or the G series that uses a hyrdolic setup? I'm not certain on the Capris. I know they can in FWD turbo 323's for sure.

16,755

Yeah.. I scrolled thru and noticed the valve covers at a glance and so I looked a little closer. The one thing that really tips it into the realm of (no way they are the same) is the fact that the fuel lines are bent two different ways on each of 'em. One has a constant radius turn around to the fuel rail , the other has a two small radius... If you use the actual car gurus site you should look up some of his 'contributions'. Most of his bullshit is superficial like that but non the less I've chuckled at his comments a couple of times... (He's got one of thoose as a comment on Logan's car 'NOS fire'... No one told him that NOS just provides oxygen and isn't flammable apparently...

315

i gtg.... accept the request or send me one... and well talk more about it... but yea ill sell the tranny and clutch cable to ya ...for a decent price too cuase i like the project....

That guy is an IDIOT and he "thinks" he will impress us with his MUSTANG? You should read the crap he sent me privately! I hope he goes to the Mustang site with people that will welcome his lies and B.S.!

16,755

If it helps in the future, if the sub model on a mitsu turbo contains an 'A' it has a titanium based turbine and tends to spool a bit faster... The (EX TD05HRA-16G6) The A in HRA denotes the titanium option... You said 405 cfm right? TDO5H-14B (6cm^2)? I don't think they had the titanium turbine on anything but 16's and larger, dunno though, way out of my element with turbo's and you likely know more about it that me. Both of you look to have awesome projects going there! Keep us updated here!
