Certified used cars are just the cream-of-the-crop. They're popular with used car departments at new car dealers because they get the best condition cars in trade, often after lease expirations. most of the junk gets sent to the auction where low class used car dealers buy, fix up and sell to novice buyers.. The difference between certified and just used is condition and the extended, or more comprehensive warranty a dealer puts on the car. With all the computerized stuff and the cost to repair modern cars, I'd recommend buying only certified.

CPO vehicles are suppose to have gone through check list and anything found is fixed before it is place on the lot. Used units are just put right out there without any checks being done.

Also, a used vehicle may have a jaded past such as an accident, branded title, multiple owners, or high mileage. You won't find those vehicles offered as certified pre owned. Jim
