Who pays for return shipping?

Question type: General

Say the car that was delivered to you has a mechanical issue
or some defect that was not disclosed. If you decide to return
the vehicle, do you have to pay for the return shipping or is that
cost covered by the dealer/car gurus?

Most used vehicles are purchased as is unless the seller guarantees the vehicle. If buying long distance you should never ever buy any vehicle, especially a used one sight unseen! Have the vehicle inspected by a professional inspection company. I've used lemonsquad.com for my long distance purchases with excellent results. That way you know what you're buying. Assuming the seller will take the vehicle back you will most likely need to pay for the return shipping. Be advised that Cargurus is an advertising site only. Similar to Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc. They don't buy or sell anything. Hope that helps! Jim

The only way to buy a vehicle that's located far from you is to go see it AND have it checked out by a mechanic. As James said, there are inspection services available and lemonsquad is one that seems reliable, or just have a local mechanic or dealer perform this for you. You seem to be experiencing the main reason for novices to not buy from far away... What happens if, or more likely WHEN, something goes wrong and you have to return the POS you bought. That cost is on you..... You might get a seller to agree in writing that the car is as represented and if not he'll absorb the cost to return. That would be great protection, but in reality, that will never happen. SO, BUYER BEWARE should be your future moto.
