07 Camry Acceleration Issues

Asked by Kelly Nov 06, 2022 at 08:51 PM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 07 Toyota Camry with 228K miles on
it. Car normally runs amazingly however, I
recently had acceleration issues on the highway.
I will attempt to accelerate but when I do, it’ll rev
and not move. Once I take my foot off of the gas
pedal and allow it to downshift, I can then
accelerate a bit until it revs and I again have to
remove my foot from the gas, allow it to
downshift, then again accelerate. It would also
idle really low at a stop and even stall. The
battery wouldn’t hold a charge at the end. I have
since changed the battery, alternator, a belt, and
the mass airflow sensor. Then I reset the
computer to fix the idle which it did. It runs
fantastic but it is still sluggish when attempting
to accelerate. I’m lost as to what is causing it.
My next step is to check the Transmission fluid
when the car is running. If not that, what could it
be? I am clueless with cars but it was my moms
car who has passed away so this car is
everything to me. Any help is appreciated!

You reset the computer but know nothing about cars ? , You disconnected the battery thinking it would fix something . Tranny fluid is most likely checked when the engine is warm , Info may be on the dip stick or in the owners manual on how to check it ...Shut the car off wait 5- 10 minutes start it up and check the tanny fluid . That car has a lot of miles so don't put a bunch of money into it , something major might go wrong and it's most likely not worth it .
