Is the site really of any value for private sellers ?

Question type: General

Hello,
I confess to being disappointed with what I am accomplishing with Cargurus. I
fully expected to receive inquires from verified buyers i.e. buyers whose identity
is at least known. Otherwise. I might as well be on Craigslist.  At this point, it
feels like the site is really for dealers and a waste for private sellers like myself.

Personally I would never sell my car here. Too many hoops to jump through and CG's has to control all the communication which is a deal breaker.

I listed a car I'm trying to sell privately on CarGurus. I got an offer from a person of exactly the selling price I was asking. I quickly clicked the button and accepted her offer. Then I began to try to send messages to the buyer, but either the messages aren't being allowed to flow between us or the buyer lost interest. I have no way of knowing because cargurus leave no way for a private seller to contact them (only dealers can), and the people who start texting you when you're interested in buying a car were worse than useless at addressing a private seller question. I'm beginning to form an opinion that Cargurus is just the worst!
