My explorer dies when I try fo accelerate quickly,
but it doesn't do that when you slowly pick up
speed

Fuel starvation? Replace fuel filter every 30K miles. Next, do a fuel pressure test to confirm fuel pump and pressure regulator are working correctly. Then a tune up. These pre 1996 cars (OBD one) can be scanned for fault codes. Call your parts store and see about a scan.
