do I need a steering wheel attachment for my head unit?

Asked by Dbob90 Apr 03, 2015 at 05:19 PM about the Mazda CX-7

Question type: General

ok so my 6 disc cd changer stopped working in my 2007 mazda cx-7 so I decided to buy
an aftermarket head unit. I switched it out and when I get it working I noticed that where it
shows the time and what radio station you are listening to used to appear on the dash, no
longer is there. is this because I don't have the steering wheel attachment? I knew the
controls on the steering wheel would not work with out the attachment, but what bout the
dash? is that something i have to sacrifice for having a aftermarket head unit, or do i need
the steering wheel connection, or a different way of getting it to work?

You should have done your homework before buying an after market radio to check for compatibility, most high end systems will work with steering controls and displays
