My 2007 dodge ram 5.7 hemi i have changed the water pump and thermostat and it builds up pressure to whereitblows off the top rader hose i have flushed the system it took over a hour

It has a vented cap but i was told it is a
sealed system there is no water in the oil
but the oil cap smells like gas im out of
options someone help me

2 possibilities the heater hoses are switched around so the flow it backed up or the thearmastat is in upside down .
